Stressed Out, Anxious or Feeling Blue? Essential Oils That Can Help.

Señor Stressed Out, aunty Anxious and little baby Blue, the three Amigos we are all too familiar with. Nowadays it seems none of us are exempt from feeling either or all of these emotions at any given point in time.

While we all know that we need to reduce their effects on the body, finding natural and healthy solutions are just as vital for our well-being. If we are to keep ourselves functioning optimally, we need to avoid processed and manufactured stimulants instead working in sync with what nature has provided us.

Essential Oils have the ability to assist and it’s one of the reasons I use Essential Oils as part of my complete health and well-being care plan

Three for three

When we are experiencing these three emotions, I find the following three support areas to be useful.

  1. Calming the mind and body.
  2. Grounding or refocusing your thoughts and intentions.
  3. Uplifting or invigorating the body and soul.

Lavender & Vetiver - Essentials useful to help when you are stressed out and wired. The Self-Reliance ShepherdWhen you are feeling stressed out or wired, Lavender and Vetiver can create an atmosphere of calm and peace.

Lavender is well-known for its calming properties, allowing you to feel greater relaxation both for the mind and the body. With its pleasant fragrance and affordable price tag, it is a must have to assist with unwinding.

While Vetiver is quite an unknown to the Western world, according to reset.me in India and Sri Lanka it is known as the oil of tranquility.  A masculine and earthy oil with a thick consistency, Vetiver gives you a sense of peace and comfort. It’s like a hug in a bottle.

Bonus boost:

  • Add 2/3 drops of Lavender with a drop of Vetiver to a hot bath. Include magnesium flakes or epsom salts for a relaxing spa treatment at home.
  • Combine a gentle yoga practice with 1 drop of Lavender, place it on the wrists or back of the neck.

A great counteraction to feeling anxious or panicky is to promote focus using Cedar Wood Rosemary & Cedar Wood - Essential oils that help you feel grounded and focused when you are feeling anxious. The Self-Reliance Shepherdand Rosemary.

Cedar Wood is reminiscent of walking in a peaceful, untouched forest surrounded by tall trees. Its woody and warm smell has the ability to make you feel as strong and grounded as the trees it hails from.

According to a study noted in a BBC News article, Rosemary significantly increased the test subjects ability to remember tasks given to them. This herbaceous and medicinal smelling oil is great to clear away brain fog and help you feel refocused and alert.

  • Mix a drop of Cedar Wood to a carrier oil and massage into your face before going to bed. Cup your hands over your nose and breathe deeply.
  • Diffuse Rosemary while meditating to clear mental fatigue and promote focus.

Wild Orange and Peppermint can provide an uplifting pick-me-up when you are feeling blue.

Wild Wild Orange & Peppermint - Essential oils to give you a pick-me-up and lift when you are feeling down. A few last words on the terrible three.

There are many tools available that can assist you to take control of how you are feeling, essential oils is merely one of them. To have a lasting impact on your health include exercise, healthy eating, passionate living and good relationships.

Just focusing on one aspect of your life to try to eliminate negativity rarely brings sustained results. Life is all about balance and finding relief from feeling stressed out, anxious or down should be a holistic endeavour.
